This Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal with Raisins recipe is a flavorful hot breakfast bowl with the aroma of apple crisp, spicy cinnamon and the sweet fruity taste of raisins. I enjoy preparing Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal for my family especially my children when they were babies and transitioning to solid food. There is something about this dish that just brings calm and comfort upon you especially on a chilly morning or evening. Also, the bits of apple and the hint of cinnamon makes this dish a perfect snack!
Did I mention how healthy this breakfast bowl is for adults and kids? Oh yes indeed… Oats are among the healthiest grains that are rich in carbs and fiber, but also higher in protein and fat than most other grains. They are a great source of important vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants. Some of the benefits of eating oats include weight loss, lower cholesterol and blood sugar levels, a reduced risk of heart disease and promotes healthy gut bacteria and increases feelings of fullness. Similarly, not only does the aroma of cinnamon take you to a happy place, but it’s also practically a superfood. Cinnamon is a great addition to your diet because its is good for your oral health, protects against infections or inflammations, lowers blood sugar levels and prevents heart disease. Likewise, raisins are full of antioxidants that are great for brain, bone and cardiovascular health.
Therefore, oats are a great addition to any healthy diet. They are not only eaten as oatmeal for breakfast, but added to baked goods and more. To make oatmeal tastier and even more nutritious, you can add cinnamon, fruits, nuts, seeds or Greek yogurt. In terms of pastries, cinnamon buns, biscuits, donuts, scones, sweet rolls, crepes, French toasts, pancakes, waffles, muffins, sandwich bread and cakes can be nicely paired with Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal for a delicious breakfast meal or dinner as you like… lol! Finally, leftover oatmeal can be stored in freezer-safe containers in the fridge for several hours and later placed in the freezer for up to 2 months.
