Hello again my lovely Okra Pantry family and loyal customers! I would first like to thank you for all your unconditional love and support throughout my time off from our weekly blogging. What a time away it has been indeed, but with the help of my loving and supportive tribe of great people and God’s strength, I am gradually getting back to one of my happy places…Guess where??? With you all right here on Okra Pantry and let’s do some juicing!
As we are heading into the Spring season and upcoming Summer, I have added a new eating habit to my routine with “Juicing.” Interesting right? I have heard a lot about the health benefits of juicing and after a year of chaos, I think this is a perfect way to detox my pathway and get this ball rolling onto a clean and glowing journey!
Green juices have become a popular component of many health enthusiasts’ diet. Consuming green juices is an efficient way to increase your intake of fruits and vegetables, which are high in vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber. Since they are made mostly of water, green juices can contribute to overall hydration, which is essential for all bodily functions. It is important to note that while green juices can make a nutritious addition to most diets, they should complement a balanced diet rather than replace whole fruits and vegetables, as juicing can strip away beneficial fiber. Always consider consulting a healthcare provider for tailored advice.
To create a refreshing and wholesome green juice, you’ll be relieved to know that all the ingredients required are easily accessible, and you can conveniently find them at your nearest grocery store or local farmers’ market. This not only ensures the freshness of your produce but also supports local businesses.
The process of making green juice is quite simple, and the ingredients you’ll need typically include a variety of leafy greens such as spinach, kale, or Swiss chard. These are packed with essential vitamins and minerals. You might also consider adding celery or cucumber for their hydrating properties and a touch of green apple or kiwi for a hint of natural sweetness that can balance out the earthy flavors.
Once your green juice is prepared, it’s important to store it properly to maintain its nutritional value and freshness. For this purpose, you can use a clean plastic jug container or individual bottles, which are convenient for on-the-go consumption. If you’re using plastic, make sure it’s BPA-free to avoid chemicals leaching into your juice. Alternatively, glass bottles are an excellent choice as they are inert and won’t interact with the juice, thereby keeping it pure and untainted.
Remember to keep the juice refrigerated, and for the best quality, consume it within 24 to 48 hours. If you’ve made a large batch, consider freezing portions that you won’t drink right away, ensuring you have a supply of green juice ready whenever you need an energy boost or a quick, nutritious snack.
